Stephanie Yamada putters around the pharmacy grabbing a pack of toilet paper, some lozenges for her son and some razor refills. She pauses to look at a sale sign, kind of zoning out absentmindedly.
Robber [[Colin Rankin]] opens the car door just as his partner screeches to a stop in front of the pharmacy. He enters the pharmacy with his partner. Both armed to the teeth. He stands by the door and raises the gun to the ceiling, firing off a single shot. He steps aside and nods for his partner to stand in front of the door while he steps inside, looking at those within. The place should be mostly empty .. it's almost closing time.
Robber [[Ken Hall]] follows the first robber holding a gun as well as a large bag.
Stephanie Yamada hears the shot and sees them, diving to the floor in terror. she clings to the shelving unit trying to be quiet and unseen but the lozenge package went flying when she landed and is in front of the counter now.
Robber [[Colin Rankin]] clears his throat and looks around the place as he walks to the terrified pharmacist. He sets an empty bag on the counter. "All your cash and all your Ficharnol. Now! Before I start shooting people." his voice is calm and business like.
Robber [[Ken Hall]] watches the door for bystanders, busybodies and cops.
Stephanie Yamada tries to breath quietly but the robber demanding cash and drugs is very close to stepping on the package that flew. She stays down but keeps her eyes on him, not sure what she'll do if spotted. Her heart is racing so hard she's almost afraid he'll hear it.
Robber [[Colin Rankin]] watches the pharmacist pause and then fill the bag with cash and finally turn and fill the bag with the bottles of Ficharnol. The robber leans forward to grab the bag and the pharmacist gets bold, reaches out and snatches the mask off of the main robbers head. "Shit!": yells the robber and shoots the man in the shoulder. Then he turns, planning to move around the center aisles and out the door. Face exposed, he stares at the woman cowering on the floor and, for a moment, freezes.
Robber [[Ken Hall]] hears the shot and turns "God dammit! Let's go!"
Stephanie Yamada sees the robber's face after jumping at the shot and her eyes fill with tears "Colin?" she whispers looking even more terrified.
Adam Pierson hears the shot and calls the receptionist into one of the back rooms. He listens carefully to figure out where the noise came from. He stands on just the other side of the adjoining door.
Robber [[Colin Rankin]] stares at Steph a moment, then simply swears. "Steph? Fuck ...." he says no more, but heads for the door with his partner. They get int he car and peel off. The sound of approaching sirens goes past the pharmacy as the police go in hot pursuit.
Stephanie Yamada looks after Colin like she's about to hyperventilate and then remembers the pharmacist and runs to him "I'll get help...." the blood is pooling and she scrambles looking for something to put pressure on "Oh god oh god...."
Michael Reinhardt stops the patrol car and leaps out, running in and seeing only the top of Steph's head. He rushes over and sees the pharmacist on the floor and Steph. "Jesus. Steph. You OK?" he kneels beside her, seeing blood on her AND the pharmacist.
Stephanie Yamada had heard the man asking to come in and yells "Doctor Pierson? Is that you? Someone's been shot!" She turns to Michael and starts to say something "It wa........Co....l" and she just loses it now and can't hold back from crying hysterically as she curls into herself.
Adam Pierson: Adam hears the shout for assistance, and grabs the nearest medical kit and opens the door cautiously. He immediately goes to the man on the floor, asking the closest person to help and put pressure on the wound. "We will need an ambulance, preferably a helio."
Michael Reinhardt hears Steph and reaches for her when she starts crying. Normally that would be grossly unprofessional, but i this small town and given his special relationship with her, he does it. He takes a deep breath. "Calm down. Breathe." he comforts her but is not the kind of man to tell a woman 'it'll be alright', cause right now he has no idea if it will be or not. Her reaction calms HIM, as she doesn't appear to be shot herself, but he looks at the doc for confirmation. When the doc speaks he gets on his radio to call an ambulance to his location.
Stephanie Yamada buries her face in Micheal's chest and lets out a big sob but realizing the doctor is asking for help she tries hard to pull it together and takes whatever he's offering from his kit to put pressure on for him, still shaking as she does it and working hard to keep her breathing even.
Adam Pierson works quickly, doing what he can to stop the flow of blood. "Are you hurt, Stephanie, right?" He checks the pharmacist over, making sure there aren't any other wounds.
Michael Reinhardt lets her go when she needs to be let go and watches them as he looks around, taking the place in. "Stephanie. What did they want?" he sees the empty register and an empty row behind the counter.
Stephanie Yamada shook her head at the doctor "I'm not hurt..." There seems to be more to say but she can't get it out but then she manages to answer Michael "The cash and some kind of drug....Ficharnol I think he said...."
Adam Pierson frowns at the mention of the drug, "And good that you're not hurt. Do we have a time of arrival for the ambulance/copter?"
Michael Reinhardt listens and nods. "I think I know. Ficharnol. A narcotic ... getting popular on the streets my old buddies tell me." he sighs and listens to his radio which is set just UNDER his hearing. "Five minutes, doc."
Stephanie Yamada keeps the pressure on with quiet shuddering sobs. She's clearly beyond shell shocked by all of this.
Adam Pierson switches out the pressure bandage on the gunshot wound, and continues to check on the pharmacist. "There's only so much I can do here... he's going to need a transfusion, and surgery, most likely. Neither of which I am set up for." He speaks softly to Stephanie, "You're doing good. The EMT's will be here soon."
Michael Reinhardt watches the doctor work, but also watches Steph. "Can I take her, Doc?" he asks, needing to get a statement AND calm her down.
Stephanie Yamada nods at the doctor "Thank you." She sniffs after from crying so much "I hope he's OK......god I just needed a few things. I shoulda gone to Chen's..." She bursts into tears again like she just can't hold it back.
Adam Pierson looks up at Michael, "Not until there's someone else to put pressure on this wound. I can only do so much and the extra pair of hands is helping to save this man's life." He looks directly at Stephanie, "Slow breaths, just breath. You are helping save a life."
Michael Reinhardt holds her. "Let me get your statement, then I want you to go to my place." he tells her. "I'll give you my keys and you give me the list and I'll get it all for you, OK?" he promises her, knowing she probably isn't in shape to see Tristan right now. He'll offer her his keys if she agrees.
Stephanie Yamada keeps pressure on while being held herself and sobbing "S'OK...I got this until the paramedics come.....then yes Mike."
Adam Pierson: "They should be here any minute, and will coordinate with you to switch with the pressure bandage. Will load him on a stretcher too."
Michael Reinhardt takes his house keys from his pocket and tucks them into Stephanie's pocket. Then he straightens and gets out of the way of the ambulance attendants and their gurney.
Stephanie Yamada turns slightly to still hold the pressure spot until another hand comes in to take over. then she stands shakily and backs up as they start to take the man away.
Adam Pierson watches, then gets to his feet, filling the senior paramedic in on what happened and what he's done so far. He asks if he is needed to ride along.
Michael Reinhardt reaches for Stephanie when she nears and will hold her if allowed. The paramedic tells the doc that he doesn't HAVE to but he should call ahead to White Rock and fill them in. Then another officer comes in to collect evidence and he looks at Steph. "Let me get your statement. I can do it here. Then you get to my place and I'll go shopping. My shift is almost over anyway." which is true but hes making it sound quicker than its gonna be.
Stephanie Yamada wipes at her face watching after the doctor and then nods at Michael "Ok, what do you need? There were two men in black ski masks that came in with rifles. I told you what they asked for. The pharmacist took off one's mask and he shot him." she starts to get shrill again and her tears spill over again "and then he looked at me....and...." her breath gets really fast again and she blurts out "It was Colin. Colin Rankin." she forces out to be specific and then more quietly between sobs "Tristan's father...."
Adam Pierson: "Alright then, I'll call ahead, I'll have to close the pharmacy and probably the clinic for now." Adam says, getting out of the way of the paramedics as they load the pharmacist onto a stretcher.
Michael Reinhardt listens to Steph as the doc speaks. "Well its almost closing anyway, right?" he offers. "Forensics should be out of here in a couple hours, then you can lock up." he turns to Steph and nods. "See .. now all I have to do is write that down." he smiles at her, but his eyes are troubled. "I remember." he tells her. "Looks like I might get to meet him after all..."
Stephanie Yamada exhales like she's trying to push it all from her mind and then looks at the doctor "Do you...am I free to go doctor? I don't know what else to..." she lets out a little half sob half exasperated noise.
Adam Pierson: "It's okay, Do what you need to do with the police, then I would suggest a hot shower or bath, and do something relaxing... if it continues to be an issue, call me, and we'll discuss further options."
Michael Reinhardt looks at Steph. "I'll be home in two hours. You know where the remote is. Vege out." he pauses. "Good idea. You know where the bathroom is. Use all the hot water." he smiles. "I'll make sure Ryan knows your okay, OK?"
Stephanie Yamada nods weakly at the doc, unable to smile. She walks by Michael and hugs him quickly and whispers "thanks." and heads out of the pharmacy. the cold air hitting her with all the realizations of this horrible day.
Adam Pierson: "Ok I'm going to clean up and send my staff home. I'll be here until forensics leaves."
